Cambridge Police Officer Hector Vicente, an MLPO Member, receives award for Exemplary Performance.

The Massachusetts Latino Police Officers Association would like to acknowledge and congratulate our MLPO Treasurer and UMass Boston Police Officer Jorge L. Ortiz who was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the University of Massachusetts (Boston Campus).

has continuously displayed an incredible passion for his family, work, and involvement with the youth. He has truly displayed hard work, dedication and determination in order to get himself to the rank of Sergeant.

Cambridge Police Officer Oswaldo Ortiz, an MLPO Member, receives Specialist Officer of the Year Award.

Lowell Police Officer Carlos Ramirez, an MLPO member, promotes programs for Lowell's Youth.

Shirley Police Dept., Sgt. Sam Santiago, an MLPO Member, awarded the FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award.

The Massachusetts Latino Police Officers Association would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate MLPO member Sgt. Sam Santiago who successfully completed the FBI LEEDA Leadership Trilogy Training Program. He successfully completed the Supervisor Leadership, Command Institute and Executive Leadership. He was presented with an award.

Sgt. Santiago
is an 18 year veteran of law enforcement, 13 of those years with the Shirley Police Department, currently the midnight shift patrol supervisor/sergeant. He is currently attending Springfield College and will complete his studies at the end of this year. He will graduate in May of 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Services with a Criminal Justice Concentration.

Cambridge Police Officer Evelyn Kantor-Lugo, an MLPO member, receives City Employee of the Year Award.

MIT Police Officer Jennifer Ortiz, an MLPO member, receives recognition for her service to the MIT Community.

The Massachusetts Latino Police Officers Association would like to acknowledge and congratulate MIT Police Officer Jennifer Ortiz who recently received the Serving The Client Award at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Rewards/Recognition Program.

tated the following; “The next Serving the Client Award goes to a member of the MIT Police Department in the Special Services/Detective Unit. Officer Jennifer Ortiz has been praised by her colleagues as a positive, compassionate person with a gift for interacting with all members of the MIT community. Her letters of nomination recount an extremely sensitive assignment following the death of a student. When the student’s family arrived from Bogota´, Colombia, Jennifer was asked to step in and serve as translator. She accompanied the student’s family members to their many difficult appointments without hesitation and with a compassionate 

The Massachusetts Latino Police Officers Association would like to acknowledge and congratulate MLPO member and Cambridge Police Officer Evelyn Kantor-Lugo who recently received the City Employee of the Year Award at Cambridge City Hall on Friday May 10, 2013.

Officer Kantor-Lugo
dedicated this award to her mother for instilling values, shaping her work ethic and genuine appreciation of others. She is also dedicating this award to Officer Sean Collier for his dedication, hard work and commitment to his community.

The Massachusetts Latino Police Officers Association would like to extend its support and congratulations to Lowell Police Officer Carlos Ramirez who was recently appointed as Lowell’s Police Department PAL (Police Athletics/Activities League) Officer. Officer Ramirez spearheaded an exceptional initiative that prevents juvenile crime and violence by providing athletic and recreational opportunities for the youth of Lowell, Massachusetts.

This initiative could not have been possible without the support of Superintendent of Police Kenneth Lavallee and the collaborative efforts of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell, who partnered with the department to start the program.

We want to wish
him continued success, as well as to offer this opportunity to our members, the Lowell Police Department and the Lowell community to join in participating in the reduction of juvenile crime within Lowell, Massachusetts.

Officer Ortiz
goes above and beyond the responsibilities of a Youth Outreach Officer. He works diligently with youth and families, identifying their service needs, connecting them to providers in the community, and serving as a mentor. Officer Ortiz is well-known among youth and families in the community. He is always looking for a creative way to engage youth and prevent them from taking the path towards delinquency and court involvement.

UMass Boston Police Officer Jorge L. Ortiz, our MLPO Treasurer, promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

The Cambridge Police Department recognizes and commends Officer Vicente’s for his exemplary performance in the area of Law Enforcement and Public Safety.
